Support for expats dealing with anxiety.Β A structured audio program you follow at your own pace.

By Marloes Mulder, MSc

Living abroad can be the adventure you hoped for; or it can leave you overwhelmed and far from everyone who knows you.

This program helps you understand, manage, and work with your anxiety, drawing on psychology, nervous system work, and practical everyday changes, inside a structured framework that bends to your pace and your real life.

I've been through it myself, and with the right tools, you can feel calmer and more like yourself again, wherever you are.

From the outside, you look like you're handling it.

Inside, it takes everything to keep that up.

  • A coffee morning where everyone already knows each other, and you laugh at jokes you don't quite get. Don't be too much, you tell yourself.
  • A report you've read too many times and still haven't sent.
  • Your heart starts pounding for no reason. In a meeting, at the supermarket. You keep your face calm and wait for it to pass.
  • In bed at night you are going over tomorrow's to-do list, the one that never seems to get smaller.

And underneath it all, the bigger question. What happened to the person you were before you moved.

Anxiety doesn't look the same for everyone.

For some people it's loud and physical. For others it's that rushed feeling that never lets up. It might show up as:

  • Panic attacks, or the fear of them happening again
  • Feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or drained most of the time
  • Overthinking and racing thoughts you can't switch off
  • A racing heart, dizziness, or feeling shaky for no clear reason
  • Trouble falling asleep, or waking at night and lying there awake
  • Homesickness, feeling disconnected, or like you don't quite belong here

If this sounds familiar, you're in the right place.

I'm Marloes.

I've lived as an expat in places like Norway, Belgium, Italy, The United States and India, quietly dealing with anxiety for most of my life. A few years ago, pushing through stopped working. This came after going through cancer twice in my early thirties.

Looking back, I see how many small things were quietly piling up β€” the constant pressure to adapt, work stress, health scares, the slow weight of living far from home. On the outside I looked fine, repeating that I was okay. Inside, everything felt heavier than I wanted to admit.

What was unexpected was that the anxiety, years later, became so much harder than the cancer itself. It touched my sleep, my work, my relationships, until surviving felt like the only thing left on the list.

What helped was learning: how the body and the mind feed each other, how avoidance keeps fear alive, how awareness and acceptance slowly bring the system back down. It wasn't fast, and there were setbacks. But bit by bit, my calm started to outweigh the anxiety.

I built The Anxiety Relief Audio Program from the tools backed by science and the ones genuinely helpful to me β€” organized into something clear and complete, made for people living abroad. If you're tired of trying to think your way out of anxiety or collecting bits and pieces everywhere, this is the structured version.

back to calm

The Anxiety Relief Audio Program

A self-paced course built for expats with anxiety.

Inside: seven audio modules, guided meditations and worksheets to put the work into practice.

Underneath all of it sits the Serenification Framework. You see how anxiety works, spot your own patterns, connect them, and build new habits in their place. Small steps, repeated over time, until your system learns the way back to calm.

No quick fix. Real change, built over time.

β€œThe program I listened to helped me enormously. In anxious moments I felt supported, and I got tools to deal with my fears. I felt understood by the stories that were told. My anxiety no longer runs my life, and I would recommend this to anyone. In the end there was light at the end of the tunnel, and I saw that sooner because of the program. I am so glad that I go through life happy again.”

β€œI highly recommend Marloes! She is professional, knowledgeable, and made me feel comfortable from the very first session. She explained the entire process clearly and gave me practical tools that were easy to use. She's always available for extra advice and support, and I'm already seeing positive results by following her guidance. Thank you, Marloes!”
